Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge vs. LG G5

Samsung and LG are some of the fiercest competitors when it comes to smart phones and other devices in the market. The two companies both have new handsets in the market: the S7 Edge and G5 respectively. How do these two compare?

The Galaxy S7 Edge has a super AMOLED display with 1440 by 2560 pixels. It is 5.1 inches and has 577 ppi which provides for more pixel density. The LG G5 on the other hand, is bigger in display with 5.3 inches but it has an LCD screen. The phone is similar to the S7 Edge with its 1440 by 2560 pixels as well. It spots a smaller pixel density at 554 ppi. When it comes to clarity in display and image quality that is off the charts, the Galaxy S7 Edge would be the perfect choice. However, the normal human eye does not really note the difference in these displays as both are high quality. If, however, you are a big screen enthusiast then the LG G5 provides a bigger screen as opposed to the S7 Edge.

For protection, both handsets have Corning Gorilla Glass. They also have the always on feature which helps with battery conservation. However, the S7 Edge wins with its waterproof feature which allows the phone to get coverage from water damage in one meter of water for as long as half an hour!

Battery and Camera

When it comes to the fingerprint sensor and fast charging, the G5 and the S7 Edge tie up. However, the battery lives on both phones are quite different. The G5 has a 2800 mAh Li-Ion battery which is removable. It allows the user to have an extra battery pack in case they run out of charge. The S7 Edge on the other hand, has an impressive 3000 mAh battery which can keep charge for hours but it is not removable.

The cameras are also different with the S7 Edge having a 12 MP primary and a 5 MP front facing camera while the G5 has a 16 MP primary and an 8 MP front facing camera. The resolution on the G5 is great although the S7 Edge is a contender with its dual pixel technology which is able to produce clearer images.

The G5 trumps the S7 when it comes to USB port because it has the Type C port as opposed to the S7’s micro USB port which is slower.

Processor and Storage

The LG G5 uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor while the S7 Edge has the Snapdragon 820 Exynos 8890 Octa. These are both great processors that ensure the smooth running of the software on the phone and accessibility to different applications on the same. The LG G5 has 4 GB RAM and internal memory of 32 GB. It supports a micro SD up to 200 GB. The S7 Edge also has 4 GB RAM and 32 GB internal memory although it also has the 64 GB alternative available. It also supports micro SD support up to 200 GB. In this, the two phone tie up in ranking.
